Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

Children Across America is a 501 (c)(3) (EIN 27-0355388), humanitarian organization. Children Across America provides literacy support and preventative healthcare to underserved children in the United States. Its vision is to empower families and children in low-income communities. Its unique programs are focused on improving children’s educational excellence and health. The organization partners with local libraries, school systems healthcare advocates and hospitals to ensure children get the full benefit of its programs. We provide a free alternative program to underserved families with students in grades K-5, who can’t afford a private tutor, or professional tutoring services such as Kaplan or Kumon.

Our Vision

Our goal is to give every child the literacy tools they need when they leave elementary school, as students who are not reading proficiently at the end of the third grade are at risk of becoming one of the 1.2 million students that do not graduate from high school every year in the United States. We offer FREE programs for underserved children to develop literacy and mathematics skills in elementary school students as well as summer camp. Additionally, we are a partner vendor with the state of Massachusetts Health Insurance.

Our History

Children Across America had its beginnings in 2007 in Milford, Massachusetts, with only 6 members. The organization was founded by Ray Fellows (Executive Director) who’s grandmother inspired him and gave him the funds needed to develop the first literacy and math programs for underserved children. Ray worked with the IRS for the organization’s 501C3 designation that same year. He met with the Milford School Superintendent Bob Tremblay to define the education need in the Milford community. Children Across America started with basic reading groups and have grown by now to incorporate education, medical and health support.

Our Impact

We helped more than 400 underserved kids at our fun book clubs and math sessions to gain insight in literacy and logical games. With a collaboration with other Non Profit organizations, during the book clubs, hot meals were also provided. Helped more than 300 underserved families obtain healthcare coverage and connected their children with doctors and dentists within their local communities. By educating parents, more than 200 children have received annual check-ups and immunizations. Helped families fill more than 1,000 prescriptions at 50-75 percent below retail costs.
